Court-ordered Young
Offender assessments. These are assessments of adolescents in conflict
with the law ordered by the Crown Attorney's Office prior to trial. Please
be advised that adolescents from ages 12 and up have considerable rights
to their own privacy and decision-making. Dr. Bigelow has extensive experience
in delivering services to children, adolescents and adults. |
Child and adolescent
clinical interventions and assessments requested by child protective services,
parents or other custodians for issues such as achievement, adjustment,
trauma, suspected ADHD, learning disabilities, other disorders and abuse
problems. While specializing in children and adolescents, clinical assessments
are provided for all ages requested by parents, family physicians, educators,
or the persons themselves. If other specialized services (e.g.,neuropsychology)
are required, I will appropriately refer. |
Parenting Capacity
assessments are also done for child protection services or the courts
under the Child and Family Services Act or the Children's Law Reform Act.
Please note that Dr. Bigelow insists on a court order with his name attached
before engaging in such assessments. Dr. Bigelow has extensive experience
in these matters. Where permitted by law, risk evaluations for adolescents
and adults are also done for the prisons, courts and schools. |
Substitute Decision
Act (SDA) capacity assessments for financial and personal care. These
assessments focus on one's ability to understand and appreciate one's
finances or personal care. These assessments are provided upon request
when someone you know (e.g., a older parent) over the age of 18 seems
to be having trouble (i.e., the capacity to understand and appreciate)
managing their money or personal care. Opinions are also offered on one's
ability to understand and enter into Power of Attorney (POA) agreements.
Please note that SDA assessments cannot be done where there is a POA in
place. |
